A Standard Change is a routine, low-risk, often-done change to the production environment that has been pre-approved by
the full CAB and requires no further approval to enact in production. Standard Changes enable rapid implementation of
frequent changes, as they do not go through formal detailed assessment and Change Advisory Board(CAB) approval process.
But it is ensured that risks out of such frequent changes are understood and managed well. Thus, it allows to reduce
unnecessary high levels of administration on low impact and frequent, routine changes. There is always a defined
trigger for a Standard Change. Budgetary approval of Standard Change is pre-decided or would be within the control of
the Standard Change process.
The following are few examples of Standard Change:
-
Upgrade of PC
-
Movement of desktop
-
Request for new Server, Desktop, other equipment
-
Installation of software.
In some engagements, Standard Changes may be triggered by the Request Fulfilment process and be directly recorded and
passed for action by the Request Fulfillment Team.
